Led by Orti's roguish sax of Orti and Delbecq's alternately introspective and pointillistic piano playing, Kartet reconciles the intellectual and intuitive, and further blurs the frontier between jazz and contemporary music with a peculiar music that suggests more that explains, moves swiftly between complex structures and free soloing, as if searching for total osmosis between themes and improvisations.
