Premiered at the Europa Jazz Festival in May 2009, Claude Tchamitchian's new quartet was formed with the specific intent of working the melodic, rhythmic and sonic signatures that characterize his music with a smaller line-up than his big band (Lousadzak), allowing more mobility in exploring new sound worlds. Although his unique personality is still very much felt, unexpected directions are explored, including forays into rock or pop. The instrumentation is open to electricity and effects, but the relationship to space and interplay remains faithful to the bassist's previous work.
