A full decade after his New Trio with André Charlier and Daniel Yvinec, the former leader of Abus Dangereux, already seen at Le Triton with Christophe Godin (in the 2G duo) revisits the trio formula, taking advantage of extra improvisational space it allows, with special attention given to melody, and with the presence of an electric cello (in turns accompanying and soloing) to further cover their tracks. The Melody Makers' repertoire (CD released last October on Musiclip) is a mixture of original compositions and, mostly, arrangements of English rock and pop classics (from The Beatles to The Police and The Who, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, or David Bowie). The ideal antidote to musical pigeonholing !
